I haven't really seen much advertising by EA about the game, and the other forum seems to be frozen; and I can't post there.

So could anyone on here tell me the good, bad and ugly about this new version of the sims?

    Should I buy or not?

It's basically going to be an epic game... eventually.
Right now, I guess the base game is going to be at its bare minimum because that's how you get the most out of expansion packs! (More jobs/careers, pools, toddlers, ghosts....)

    If you've played TS2 and TS3, I don't see why you wouldn't get TS4. TS4 is like a mixture of both.

Thank you for the reply, although that doesn't really tell me much, what do you mean by bare minimum? And Why are you referring to toddlers and pools when talking about expansion packs, surely they're in the base game?

well there's alot of controversy about how the Sims 4 has less features in the base game than Sims 3 or its predecessors did.

I am chalking that up to fact they are either rushed, or they want to make the base game as stable as possible, and then add other features down the line in the form of expansions, stuff packs etc.

As Fiery touched on, no pools, toddlers or ghosts from the beginning. But fingers crossed we'll see them added soon in an expansion or even better an update. AS LONG as they spend the time making sure it's done right.

As alot of people know, the Sims 3 had a reputation for being very unstable... with how much it had going on in it. Fingers crossed MAXIS and EA are hoping to improve that this time around.

Neighborhoods and now Worlds and each World has 5 or 6 neighborhoods in them. Each neighborhood is split into lots. There are loading screens now, like in Sims 2, but this is great for the game to run smoothly and have populated lots.

Please tell me that's not true  Surely they wouldn't remove a whole life stage?

If your just looking for generic information on the Sims 4, your best bet is to trawl through old threads, blog posts etc. Noeone as of yet has really compiled a mega-thread of what The Sims 4 has and what you can/can't do. But hopefully we'll see one soon!

I don't mind it having less than sims 3, but just how much less are we talking here?

Seriously I feel like I know nothing, I haven't seen the game advertised anywhere so thought i'd try and find out.

Haha about that, all u have to do is head straight to the sims 4 section on thesims3.com, go through some page and enjoy the outbreak of outraged simmers. May be you shouldn't do that. Seriously

5 or 6 neighbourhoods seems good, are loading screens just between those neighbourhoods then?

Maybe we can get a Sims 4 Info thread like other websites have. I think I may start one, not sure.

Why not? Does it get worse than no toddlers and pools? I'm a bit worried now.

So I can't just visit a neighbour without a loading screen? That seems a bit of a step back. :(

Yup. It did. Roughly "just a bit" worse. But i guess it depends on your views about it.

Don't look at it like that. The loading screen are at most 30 seconds. They increase performance of the game and reduce lag. It also provides a more populated neighborhood, whereas every lot was empty in TS3.
