    LOL That's even more complicated than the reasons I'm Arachne. I get mistaken for a fan of the comic character, too, so I totally understand.

    I loved Amber!!!

    It was one of the few times I actually got annoyed when I was lurking. I liked her, I thought the fact that she was larger sized and yet so confident was a positive message to send out. I hated seeing all the mean things posted about her. I want to play her, I want to give her this amazing husband and fabulous family. She's just awesome, easily my favorite so far.

    I wish we had an ignore button like there is on this forum. Even the official EA forums have ignore buttons.

    Thankfully, I missed that thread. Amber is awesome! Definitely one of my favorite sims they've created.

    hehe welcome! You seem cool beans and you'll be rather comfortable here. Yes, there is no reason to hate on the no tots and pools thing, to me...that whole ordeal is completely pointless and uncalled for. But have fun here! We won't bite

    Hey everyone! I just came over from the official forums as well (jessathemessa). I recognize some of your names! I've heard a lot about this forum being much friendlier and mature so I thought I would give it a go.

    Very well put. I saw that post as well, then I got annoyed and left lol. I understand what Graham was getting at because it seems in Sims 4 that the social interactions and emotions are going to be the biggest improvement! SO EXCITED :D

    What got to me was when they started saying "sheep" who complained about empty lots in Sims 3 were lying.

    Do you mean the empty club syndrome? I've used NRAAS mods almost since I first got the game so I never really experienced it without them. I never had empty lots, it was fairly routine for my community lots to have between 15-20 Sims already on them.

    However.

    I know that is not the norm. I know that for me it is because I use mods that make the lots active. I think maybe some of the people posting had forgotten they had mods in place? Maybe? I don't know or maybe they just like to bicker and debate, lol.

    I'm inclined to think they really just wanted to promote their own views and opinions. Many of them would mention the mods "fixing" things but in the same thread would also talk about how they never had a problem and that it wasn't open world that caused lag, it was the bad design of the game engine. I suspect it was a bit of both--I get the impression EA didn't use the right engine for what they tried to do with the open world and when you add in 100 or more non-played sims being routed through their story progression all the time (including the bad routing issues that resulted), plus all the textures someone (like me:D) might add into the game through CASt because we like to customize EVERYTHING, spawning machines that may or may not have maximum cut offs, and tons of EPs and store content and you've got a hot mess.

    I did play with mods, but I haven't updated them lately, and I really noticed the lack of sims in clubs and such. We shouldn't need mods for that kind of thing.

    Maybe they forgot they had mods, but I suspect they just like to bicker.

    I think the worst thing I ever saw was when I once let one of the worlds go on short lifespan just to see what would happen. I normally turn aging off or play epic. The world had 50 students and they could not get into the school! I got so annoyed about the nonstop notifications about somebody skipping school when I could see them all lining up trying to get into the school.

    For me, it always wound down to routing issues. Sims getting stuck everywhere, cars getting stuck, pets getting stuck, it was a mess.

    I completely agree that the Sims 3 engine was a hot mess, I just don't have a ton of confidence in the Sims 4 one either. That's why we have awesome modders. *cracks whip* get to work! I need mods to make Sims 4 as awesome as it can be.

    @Lokisimsies
    Well, they're claiming it's a completely new engine. Of course, with the online/Olympus rumors going on, that might not be a good thing if they actually did use an online type of engine for the game. I've got my fingers crossed that whatever it is, it ends up working better than TS3's engine did.

    On the upside, Maxis has made a couple of statements now showing their willingness to work with the modding community.

    @ebuchala

    Well, the demo loads really fast. So....maybe? LOL. Also, we should keep in mind that those who went to the Creators Camp were using some pretty powerful computers (they even reported they were) so we can't go off their videos to look for lag or anything.

    I know this time around will be more careful with buying EPs and stuff. It's so addictive but it really slows things down. I think if you never get it? Then you won't "need" it in your game. True?

    I plan on carefully examining every single item to make sure I really want it before adding it to my game. I don't want another 15 minute load time or 60 minutes just to make a Sim because CAS is so slow.

    I had no idea this was going on. I guess that's why someone called @SleepyD2k a sheep for being happy about it? I have problems understanding that sort of mentality. Is MTS complaining about TS4?

    I do think that some people with lower end computers are going to end up being a bit disappointed with the resolution and performance of the game. I don't remember seeing any lag at all in the videos that have been shared (which kind of surprised me, to be honest) but since EA approved the videos and screenshots before they were released, it's very possible, they vetoed any that might have shown obvious lag in them.

    I have my Optimist's hat on and am hoping that the way the new game and engine are designed that adding EPs won't cause too much additional load time. But, honestly, I played TS3 pretty happily for years, even waiting for 15 minute load screens between worlds, etc. But, yeah, I bought some EPs that I never played much (Showtime, I'm looking at you :watching:) so I will definitely be more cautious this time through. The upside is that EP's almost always go on sale at some point which is how I got most of the EPs I ended up with for TS3.
