Do you prefer the cartoony look or the realistic look?

So, some people have been complaining about how The Sims has gone "cartoony" and "babyish". Well, it doesn't really bother me.
Have a look at Bella Goth through the ages, surely you'll have to agree that the TS4 one is the best looking out of the four.


The game has definitely progressed over the years, don't you think?
So, what do you think, cartoony or realistic?

At first I didn't like the look of TS4, but now I can't help loving it. The sims looks so much better in this game! Definitely the cartoony look

Oh cartoony all the way! The Sims has always been a cartoon & will always be, should never become realtic :/

You said "realtic" did you mean realistic?

I like the sims 3 and the sims 4's designs although I wish the sims 4's hair and eyelashes would be a bit different.

I hope The Sims V will be realistic. I love the cartoony yet realistic skins but Im a sucker for hyperrealistic mods. If amateur modders can make human-like skins that still look cartoony when animations play, then I bet EA can. Look at Saints Row, they have realistic non pudding face skins and still show comedic reactions.

The Sims 1 to Sims 4... all of them are 3D cartoons as always. I love The Sims 4 so much because there are so many things for example the children finally look so much better and so adorable. Anyway let's go back to this topic about the looks... if you guys are not happy with their looks, that's okay but remember, we will able to create our own textures to improve the skins, hairs, etc... to make them look a bit more realistic! I don't understand why people are forgot about what they were through in the past since the whole looks on Sims 1, Sims 2, Sims 3 and again... Sim 4? Now, this is 4th time that people freaked out about the looks... again.

I like the realistic a lot, but the cartoony style is, well, new! It's kind of nice to see a new style in TS!

Please check this site because people who talked about the Sims 4 are "too cartoonish" Genevieve, the artist created it as an example to you guys that S4 can turned out the most realistic ever with cc. Isn't she gorgeous? Hope that you guys will like it and understand that everything is possible with custom content! <3

Cartoony is way better than realism because, sims 2 is my favorite and their graphics made me played it for a quite a long time rather than sims 3 i played about 30 minute tops, because it's too boring and the graphic look too realistic .

Besides the hair, which is really growing on me, I prefer the more cartoony and expressive look. Sims 4 look really nice and the cartoony look just fits. Personally I like that it isn't extremely exaggerated cartoony/stylized look or overly realistic. It's like a nice and balanced semi-realism which fits the theme. Playing with life, but in some funny, zany and unrealistic ways.

Thesims aways had cartoony features aside from graphics. Speech baloons, cloud fights etc. Cartoony graphics just fit perfectly at Thesims.

I don't pay all that much attention to the graphics. I want my Sims to look nice, but I don't need my them to look like real people. The plastic hair look is a bit weird to me but it won't stop me from buying or playing the game. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I think they aimed the sims 3 to be realistic but did not think it will be sooo laggy. They toned down the sim's texture in ts4 but have a more realistic face and body.

Yeah! Summer time will go faster then we will having Sims 4 soon than we think. I remembered I waited so long for The Sims 2... Now look at us. We are about to have The Sims FOUR!

I wonder what pets will look like and if we will be able to use the direct manipulation features like when creating a sim.
