I played the game for numerous hours and didn't crash once. That's even with the constant alt-tabbing I was doing to look at a picture of a house I was using for reference.

While I wouldn't be surprised if there were some issues with the game (it is Day 1 after all and no game is bug free), are you sure it isn't something to do with your settings or your computer?

As far as I know, there has not been any problems with my game crashing and I know other people have been having problem-free experiences. As IvoryOwl said it could be your computer or a number of factors.

So you never bought a game or anything the day it came out because you were so excited?

An official launch means that the game is supposedly ready for public use, so it doesn't matter if you buy it now or later because the 1.0 version will still be the same for everyone.

You should be more thankful for these first-nighters because in order to get patches, people have to buy the game, play it and report issues. In other words, we're being the guinea pigs for people like yourself, who only buy games after they get a couple of patches under their belt. Or did you think stuff gets fixed out of thin air?

There will always be cases cases where things don't go as planned, but as you can see here the majority of people is having fun without problems. If most people who bought it as soon as it launched ins't having problems, then its probably not a first-day launch issue, is it?

    So... why all the spite?

Check you computer compatibility, that's a pretty major thing, wait for patches because plenty will be coming out. Also if it is a matter of you not liking the game play, then maybe it is not the game for you, if you pre-ordered on Origin you can get your money back. Try out Sim-City or other building type games, they might be better suited for you.

I have had zero problems with my game, and I have played for about 12 hours (sleeping in there at some point). The game is very smooth and I love the gameplay. For those still waiting, don't worry and just ignore the haters. They do nothing but go around spreading the same old things ad nauseum.

well seems like you have just made an account for this only purpose to bash on this game. One) you should just take the problem to the technical discussion instead and Two) no game comes out topsy turvy with all out perfect, the sims 3 was far from perfect when it first came out and it still isn't the most amazing running game so what did you expect from the sims 4? You just have to wait for an update or patch to come out instead

I am pretty sure that was the reason for their crash as they used custom colors for when in build mode, not the games fault. See, cc made with the demo doesn't work and with patch updates, they may not work. The demo is different from the base game and still being so new, cc is really unstable at the moment and people need time to work on the tools and all that.

CC isn't always bad, there is always a risk of corrupted cc and seeing as it just launched, nobody had time to correct it really (there is a way to fix them with something like color magic, but I don't know much about it).

They shouldn't be mad as in this case, it was probably their fault that is crashed. What they need to do is remove all cc for now and hopefully the game will run better and with experience no crashing.

OK...here's the thing. Charging $60 for a game and then slowly releasing $40 expansion packs that add alittle bit to the game is a bit of a money grab. But EA really crossed the line here. Clearly, this game has been significantly simpified with a focus on emotion targeting a more female audience. They took away content features to try to attract a more casual gaming market (the game is now more "cute"), which is fine. Where they crossed the line is they didn't allow any pre-releases of the game so people could put any reviews out there of the sims 4, knowing that the hardcore gamers are much more likely to buy the game on day one and early reviews of the game would drive hardcore gamers away from it. This is shady. I'm boycotting all EA games at this point. I hope others will join me.

What is CC? Custom Colors, I used the colors available in the game.. I just change the colors of all the furniture to match each other... Other than the crash which was just a hiccup - my systems more than compatible to work with this game. I pretty much enjoyed everything else in it. Including the "motherlode" code.. I just want to warn other to save there game every now and then.

CC = Custom content, AKA mods.

Haven't used any mods or custom content, just the base game. I think the error was with Origin, that crashed my game. Only happened once, just save you game every once in a while while building.. Should be fine

You said in the first post that you used custom colors and cc is custom content of any kind, including recolor, which fan made, not pre-made. So people are going to assume you had cc installed because of that.

Care to explain the contradiction? Custom colors ARE custom content... unless you meant changing the furniture color to any of the available vanilla options.

I am not having a issue either with custom content. It totally depends on the item. One bad piece of custom content can make the game crash.

For the original poster...is your computer at least an i5 with 4GB or RAM? It probably is. Was you running anything in the background? I would just say try a clean reinstall if you ever did use custom anything.

I haven't been coming across any crashing problems at all.
