Merging households - Furnature from old one disappears

So I had 2 sims created and decide to move in together. Invite to move in, then get the merge households screen. Move the one sim (with nice stuff in house including career items) in with the girl. It then says I can either 'transfer' items or sell all items. Window just has a single checkbox for 'sell all items' .. I assume leaving blank it will transfer all items. I complete, he is now part of the girls household.. .but doesn't any items from his house (or money from selling them, just his cash from work merged) ... Where did his stuff go? It's not in personal inventory, house inventory (in build mode) nor is it still back in the old house (I went back to build mode on old lot and looked) ... I have tried many variations including just doing it all from the Manage World screen, Move household, and others... but i can't find any way to move my furnature and items from old house to the new one..
Related I don't seem to be able to figure out how to put items from my house into my personal inventory either... I've seen some say just 'drag and drop' into inventory.. but in live mode nothing will drag, and in build mode I have no personal inventory, just household.. which did not transfer to the new house either (tried that too) ... thoughts? this is becoming frustrating..

Certain things (like guitars, wad of clay, tablets, etc.) can be placed in personal inventory I believe. Majority of items can go towards household inventory.

What furniture you had at your sim's old house should now be in the household inventory. At least that's always been the case for me. I personally don't like the way furniture's handled, my sims always take furniture with them when they move to a different house.

I've tried it many times.. from 'move in together' interaction (which pulls up a merge window), selecting the 'manage household' option from manage world.. and the 'move' option from manage world. On the screen you select the arrow to say who moves into the other household, then it says 'you can sell furniture of merge items' with the checkbox I do not select anything. I say 'ok' then it loads the 'merged' house and both are now members of the house.. but I don't see any of my old furnature in 'household inventory' .. which I believe is what you see in build mode? .. Am I just borking something up?

Ended up with a work around.. Moved the girl in (who had only basic items) and selected the 'sell all furniture' checkbox. Then she was moved into with the guy as a family with a little extra cash from the sold items, but no items in inventory (as expected). Then I moved the couple back into the girl's original one, purchasing it furnished. When we arrived at the new house it had all her old items... and in the household inventory were all the items from the guys house they just moved out of.. So there does appear to be some bug trying to merge 2 inventories when part are owned by each household.

I had the exact same problem this week, so I guess this week's "update/upgrade" still did not fix this bug. I had nice upgraded appliances (self cleaning, reliable, etc) which totally disappeared eventhough I did not check the box to sell them. Annoying! :-(
