Can't write book, progress bar disappears

So, my Sim is a writer, and he's written a few books now and is at level 10 writing skill, but this last time I tried to write a book, the green progress bar above his head suddenly disappeared and it doesn't seem like he's making any progress, he just sits there typing.

I tried scraping the book and starting another, didn't work, the progress bar won't show.

I'm not sure, have you tried resetting your sim? That's the only thing I can think of that might solve your problem.

I don't think it's a bug or anything. I read that they did this because it interferes with something else. Is the progress bar not on the action itself, in the queue?
