In previous games and the console version, I had to make Autonomy lower because high was so realistic! Yet high autonomy on TS3 is rubbish!

I've had my Vampire Sim die of thirst even though he had his human wife willing to give blood next to him AND a refrigerator! But no! Since he was a couch potato, he took a nap, got up and crumbled to dust. I can't go two seconds to another sim without the others catching fire or drowning! Also! My widowed sim had went on a date and when it was over, she kissed him goodbye and he said it was the worse date ever yet the game still had the date going on and whilst my girl slept and ate at home, the idiot stayed at the bar and kept drinking. I finally made a kitchen at the bar and HE LEFT. I think the Autonomy for the game is horrible! They wait 30 minutes to load an outfit, 1 hour to open the refrigerator and scream and kick their feet when their stupidity overwhelms them!

They seem to be harder to kill in all senses. It's not as a big of a deal to leave your computer unattended in TS3. I hope they change this in TS4.

I dont know what sims 3 you're talking about but if I leave my sims alone to go eat without pausing, they will die.

The current edition... I once saved and just left for a few hours when I came back and my game was playing usually I pause before I do it must have forgot that time. Anyways A whole sim week passed and the only thing they neglected to do was pick up after themselves. I think they forgot to pay the bills because her mirror was repoed. Took me forever to figure out what was taken I only knew cause she had a negative moodlet about it. They fed themselves and went to work and took care of basic needs (showering toilets) although my NPC roommate didn't seem to shower, but my sim did. I'm actually working on the third generation of that same family now.

Another time when I first got Sims 3 I wanted to set a select random sims on fire in my basement. So I put a few dozen fireplaces and loads of plastic plants, curtains and rugs up against the fireplaces and all through out the basement. Of course it all set on fire everything went up except the sims. They remained alive during the 5 sim-hours the fire went directly around them, I was so mad.

If you already have them doing something (like watching tv or painting) they will do it until they get their needs dangerously low but usually my sims keep themselves alive.. not well but they manage to feed themselves and use the restroom (sometimes. e.e) at least.

Simon, is your game patched to 1.67? Did you set 'free will' off? If so, you need to turn it back on. If you didn't; and you have mods/hacks installed, look through them, and see if any of them are outdated. That means going to where you got them, and seeing if the mods/hacks are all v1.67. Of course, also look to see if any of them interfere with 'free will'.

I have no mods, My computer is fully updated to 1.67, I have the highest free will but it seems the only thing they will to do is exercise (and get either anorexic skinny or superman buff, ruining my plot.) or play with electronics. My Vampire will only try to get plasma orange juice when his very thirsty moodlet is like 30s before death. My windows 8 computer is new and I only have TS3 and Supernatural installed.

Even if they're not doing anything they keep alive. However, when I don't assign my sim a task all they do is feed treats to the cat.

Sims in TS2 acted more normal than in TS3! Hopefully this SmartSim thing wont be just another failure OS with loads of glitches with a new name slapped onto it.
