... This whole article feels like an over-explanation to what could have been, simply put, an AI improvement that mimics real-life better.

While that's understandable...I think it's pretty amazing all the work that goes into creating the game...down the mechanics behind the simple movements of the Sim most people don't stop to think about. Pretty intense work goes into the process overall. That's all I was saying
