Game keeps crashing! (Sims 3)

    I have 3 (for mac) and lately it keeps consistently crashing about half an hour after I start playing. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I just got a new macbook air to replace my pro and that seems to be when the trouble started (although I hadn't played it for a while before then). I tried downloading the superpatch but it didn't do much of anything, and everything is up to date as far as I can tell. Right before it crashes it glitches, but it seems to be different every time, although the last few times it has been that the menus disappear. Also, my computer gets overheated and makes loud noises every time I play (this has been going on since I got the game I think, but it seems to get worse right before the crash).

    Does anyone know what this is/ how to fix it?
