Hiya! I'm looking to build a pc and this will be my first build so I'm not really sure what everything is and stuff. But My budget will be no more than $350 and I don't really care if the settings are like high I just need something that would be like medium. I'm not really techy about computers so I really need the help. I would also like to play sims 3 and 4 smoothly on it. Just nothing expensive cause I can't afford anything like that lol.

Building a pc isn't all that difficult, but it can be daunting if you've never done one before and don't know much about PC components.

I say you should really watch a ton of youtube videos of people building and/or maybe get in touch with someone who can build PC's.

Back when I wanted to build my first pc, I bought all the parts... but when it came to putting it all together I felt overwhelmed. Had to end up getting my dads friend to put it together for me. I had to upgrade the CPU thought a few months later, so decided to take the PC apart at which point I really learned where everything was to go and have since built a new PC from scratch all by myself and of course thanks to youtube.

    good luck with your build!

My laptop only has sims 4 but has enough ram to run sims 3 as well, it is about £300 in English money on ebay, but I only paid £20 for mine as my stepdads mate was fixing it and it didnt have a key bored on it but it does now.

Yeah I used to have a laptop but it doesn't work anymore and I was thinking of just getting a new one but I found that building a desktop is cheaper.

I have a AMD 6350 3.9 Ghz O/C'ed to 4.5 water cooled of course, and 8 GB's of 1866 Ram, anything less will no doubt run really slow...

What I like about PC's though, is you can upgrade them down the line. If in say 4-5 years your PC begins to suck at keeping up with new games, then you'll be able to update the ram and/or the graphics card. Whereas if you have a laptop, you'd have to buy a whole new laptop.

Yeah well I don't have the sims 4 yet but thinking of getting it sometime but for now I'm sticking with the 3 so like when I get sims 4 I can upgrade it to what it needs to be to play sims 4 I need a little help though finding which monitor so if you have like good models for it I would appreciate it! But thanks! :)

    Nice!

I know you can upgrade the ram on some laptops, but can be hard sourcing ram that's compatible with your laptop and some laptops have their ram soldered onto the board so it's not possible on all of them... as for the graphics card, you're kind of stuck with what you have on a laptop. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE laptops especially ones that can run games. But if you love to tinker with stuff, upgrade stuff a gaming pc is also good. They both have their pros and cons.

The Alienware laptops on the other hand come with kickass built in graphics but ALSO let you connect it to this external graphics card thing that you can upgrade which lets you boost the graphics of your alienware lappy. The only downside to Alienware is how expensive they are.

If I had a craaaaaap load of money, I'd certainly go for a high end alienware purely for the portability. And for productivity I'd go for a macbook.

Currently I have a Macbook Air, a high end gaming pc... and ofcourse the Xbox One and PS4 for console gaming. I am certainly looking at buying a Microsoft Surface or a Macbook Pro down the line though.
