It is, my computer is 5 years old, I got it shortly after TS3 came out, and it was perfect at first but then I got expansions and content and it slowly progressed. TS3 should have been made to work at a consistent manner with all content.

Exactly, i bought my desktop 5 years ago too, but after Ambitions I already had to upgrade it a bit... Now, not even it can't run S3 without lagging, even freezing from time to time

Technology like computers and such are built to last at least 7 years, my computer works fine with everything else and smoothly with every other game (even with high graphics)

Yeah, but some parts of mine are younger than the PC itself so... I'm safe for a couple of years xD

I just don't upgrade it even more because I will have to buy everything from scratch... Don't have the money for it..

Don't feel bad worse comes to worse I can just take some stuff off, and maybe a bigger memory card would do something, I'm not sure I'll have to ask my boyfriend I don't know much about that sort of thing.

Eheh, maybe a slight higher RAM memory would do. 4GB would do the trick. Ask him to do that ;)

Just checked and the memory on my computer is 3GB is 1GB really going to make that much of a difference?

3GB? It shouldn't be that slow... My laptop has 3GB also... Maybe the CPU isn't handling well? Otherwise, I'd suggest a CC sweep... You may have few mods but they may be causing half the damage

TS3 is capped to use 2GB, so if you have 3GB, it shouldn't be an issue. Unless you are using a mod to remove that cap and let them game hog all of your RAM (which is supposed to make it run faster, but only if you have a computer that can handle it).

My TS3 was taking forever to load, so long that it would stop responding. I had no mods, but did have a lot of CC.

So what I ended up doing is a factory reset on my whole computer. When it came to installing programs, I uninstalled everything I didn't need that was auto-installed and then only installed my essential programs/games (including TS3). I have not installed any CC. So now my game loads and saves in about 5 minutes each time. It still lags, and especially during Build mode. It seems this is the best it is going to get.

I would love to have CC and I miss it terribly, but because of my schedule (I am a flight attendant, always on the go, never having much time in one spot), I don't have the luxury of letting the game sit there and load for ages. I need it to load quickly and when I need it to.

I do have a lot of custom content, but I'm really stubborn about uninstalling it.

Lol same here. I want ALLLLL my custom content! I do have 8 GB of RAM though so it chugs on fluidly. It is the family loading scren that takes forever.

Yes same here with the family loading screen, and then laggy everywhere else.

You should try to shut down everything you don't need before playing... So the CPU doesn't overload, my problem with the loading things is my CPU running at 90% with just The Sims and avast! :/

Yeah, I always make sure everything else is shut down before playing TS3. It's a must, so make sure you are going it.
