I don't know if it's because I just woke up and my brain is scattered but I was just thinking about possibly making a legacy that starts out in The Sims 3, and then as soon as The Sims 4 comes out I can recreate the sims I have played so far and continue the legacy in The Sims 4! For example, make the founder in TS3 with traits that can be closely related to traits in TS4, find a spouse and add them to the family, have them have children, and then when those children grow up I can make them in TS4 since that'll probably be where I am at in the family when TS4 comes out. I can make a blog detailing the transition and then have one of the first legacies in TS4 on the Internet! :D What do you guys think? Am I going crazy or is this an interesting idea? :p

that is how I am playing, I have a legacy Family the Dexter's who are now on their 27 generation, They have made it through the A-Z generation in their legacy, So I am continuing their legacy in the Sims 4. with my sim named after the original founder., Dewey Dexter.
I am now trying to write how they got to Willow Creek and why. I have a few ideas and still working on it.
I will be making a journal of their journey to Willow Creek and what happens to them their and hope to post some pictures and story line later.
That is if I can get away from playing, Seems I get so excited playing I forget to take pictures.

That's pretty interesting! And not only do your Sims get to continue, but they'll get a whole new and improved makeover, too! Haha

And that seems much smarter than starting all over again. (Borrriinnngggg!)

You would have to cheat a bit, though. Well, unless you're just directly taking the sims' apperance and names, and moving that to Sims 4. If you wanted their skill levels, traits, riches and house, you're going to have to cheat, which would make it a bit... well, unbalanced :p Might as well play the legacy family through, and then start over with a new one in Sims 4.

You could of course have their children be "adopted" by a family in Sims 4, and continue the legacy in that way.

I am still using my sims name, the Dexter's I am going to create them in the CAS.
As far as traits are. There is only one trait that all of the generations has to have and that is I think now a Aspiration. Anyway it is Love the Out Doors. I don't have to cheat. People and generations change with time, where one generation might be rich, does not mean that the next generations will be. I will not be making their old house as they are moving to a new world and neighborhood. I have already completed the legacy and with the A-Z challenge. Dexter's are now on their 27th Generation. I am now continuing the Dexter Generation and they will be moving to Willow Creek. I do not quite have my story set as to why they are moving, or why they are poor, but It shall all work out. Hey Generations in real life, move all the time, and they do not always have the same ideas, desires as their Parents. My story will continue with this new generation of the Dexter's in Willow Creek. And tell why and how they got there.

I never played though a legacy, but it'd be an interesting read.

Actually it is a lot of fun, I love playing this way. Pinstar has a really nice legacy he is playing. He is the one who started it. He has all the rules, I will admit I sometimes change some of the rules to fit my game play. But I love it anyway.

I think it's a great idea. If I had a Legacy family, I'd totally try it. One wayward heir, lost and broke in a new town. Maybe set up some relatives in the other town.

This is the first time I've wanted to try a legacy. I'm really looking forward to it.

I've read about this idea of yours on the official sims forums and I just wanted to tell you how cool I think it is! I hope you remember to take pictures, because I really want to see them. And also, congrats on making it to 27 generations! I'm only on four of my Prettacy and I found that to be hard.

I really do love playing this way. and by the way my sims never work, in a career. they earn all their money by painting, writing, fishing, collecting and gardening, also with tips form playing music, what ever they are into. I am looking forward to the Sims 4 as the writing will have writers block, things will be a little different but will make for better play. who knows maybe they will work this time. Sometimes I adopt and now it is in the rules that you can adopt. I had one adopted boy in my legacy and he was so neat. he was a little chubby, so I kept putting him on the treadmill, but he would gain it back so off to the gym again. It was fun. I don't usually send my kids to school, but in Sims 4, I will not be able to delete the school, and I do not know as I have not heard anyone from camp talk about what happens if you don't send your kids to school. Hope it is not the Social Working taking them. If so they will just have to go to school. When I get the Sims 4 in Sept. I will play a pre made with child to see what happens if I don't send them to school and after checking out a few things then I will start my legacy.
I do hope that you find it a lot of fun. Post pictures, play a family you really love. I will try to post pictures and write a little story about mine, you all do the same. It will be interesting to see others stories. and how they are doing.

I am so excited for the new writing in the game too! I was a little disappointed when I heard that the actual writing career will not just be on the home lot, but I was relieved when pinstar talked more about the actual writing skill. I love love love that your sims can work on more than one book at a time now!
I didn't read the new adopt rule, but that is really nice. It was hard to have a gay sim be the heir before. I used a mod in my legacy.
I'm going to be doing a twist on a baby challenge, since I've always wanted to complete one of those. I guess my new rules that I made up for it make it a lot like a legacy though.
