Mods aren't working

I did not have the Mods folder, so I had to create one and I also created the resource file inside the folder. I allowed custom content mods along with the script mods.
Important thing: I downloaded The Sims 4 from piratebay. (Do not judge, at this moment it costs $300+ with all expansions and to be honest, that's a monthly paycheck in Bosnia, so don't give me any sh*t about how I should just buy the game. Not to mention that without expansions it's not even worth playing, it's like eating a hamburger with bread only)
My friend also uses the pirate version of the game and mods work just fine for her, so it IS possible to use them if you do not have the original version.
So if there is anyone out there good at solving these things, please help
