Sims 4: Wheelchairs and Disabilities

Let me kind of put a little perspective on this, and no not everyone in a wheelchair may feel this way (can't please everyone). But as a person who is in one, I'm comfortable with it and I would crack up if this was on Sims. I love fun things and don't take things so seriously. People are way too serious about things these days! I see children playing Grand Theft Auto which is way worse then having a sim racing in a wheelchair, and that game keeps growing. I just wanna have fun and not make this into a political, racial, ethical, etc issue...it's just a game...lets all have fun !!

I dont know what ages you are refering as "Younger Users", if you are talking about kids, Thesims was never meant to kids anyhow.Even beign a parody Thesims is still a simulator of people, not an educational game for children. If you dont want to risk offending someone, then dont make any sort of media.

If they were to please everyone on the world who consider something offensive or inapropiate the game would not have homosexuals,Death,woohoo or even fliting and we would not be able to see characters on their underwear or swinwear, they would not add living-deads or witches or any magic-creature, they would not add fires and criminals as well, because "Oooh, it is offensive , Ooh , it is inapropiate".

People can make "Sick" videos without EA official content already, that changes nothing as far as EA is not responsible for the huge amount of horror,violence,suspence or even porn videos that some sicko players made with both their characters and mods....ever since..i dont know..Thesims2! Yet they did not stop making Thesims in any way. This thread is about official and common-use of the feature as with any other of the features in Thesims4.

100% Agreed. Much People in Thesims community get offended by everything. If "controversial" content was really the issue they make it appear it is then Maxis would not have allowed RobotChicken to make Missions for SPORE wich, among SimCity and Thesims, had a much younger target audience.

You're more than entitled to your opinion, I appreciate where you're coming from, but I stand by what I said, it doesn't matter who Sims was intended for, the fact remains that kids play it (including some I know personally) and I can't see them appreciating the idea the way we would expect it to be.

Yes it absolutely matters. If Kids are playing a game that is naturally not proper for them, that is their parents fault not the company, and sure not from the players that want features that fit very well in a game such as Thesims. I already saw way too many games go down the hole when it comes to quality of content because of this silly mindset.

This is not a game for kids, and the company should focus on pleasing the target it is meant for and the Failure in understanding this will result in even more bland content by the years as TS3 was exemple. Even With TS4 cartoonish style, it is still has several themes that are clearly not meant for childrem and removing them will only render the game more and more boring and unpleasant over the years because of kids while the fanbase overall will slowy loose interest in the game.

I agree with you totally, I'm just a little pessimistic, I guess I hate the idea of anything attracting the wrong audience or negativity, like anyone I guess. I mean disabilities, fine...but what would people be requesting next? Sims suicide? Teen pregnancy sims? Adding realism to that degree could open a Pandora's box of wild suggestions and ideas that could spark fights between people.

teen pregnancy is a No-no for EA/Sims team.Raise the rating from T to M. Most people who want disablties in the game just want there to be an option in CAS for it to be.

And now there some guy that's a sick Who done a mod for incest and pregnancy for all ages Just shows what he like to see and do in Real Life and don't worry i haven't got that mod NOOOOOO!

Yes there is i only go on 2 sites for mods that's Mod the Sims and Sexy sims 2 is for the adult mods but there very stricked on mods to do with anything sexual for teens and Child sims.

Wrong. The Devs are not stupid, if you pay atention to my earlier comments i mentioned that it did not need to reach the M rating, only explore more the older depths of the T rating, the same way TSM fights did not need blood, GTW sickness did not need Cancer and the same way TSM injures did not need actual Cuts, crime in Thesims never needed a decapited body or gruesome scenes, it was aways intersting enough and funny, adding levels of realism with some parody effects.

The Disabilities should be inserted primaly as wheelchair or similar ones. Blindness and deafness could be hard to represent, idk, unless they add Braile reading and reactions from other sims. Adding realism to that degree does not mean they will suddly make the game +18 or add illegal stuff. You are just distorting the scale of things.

And please , Do-not-ever use that silly "pandora Box" again, it is pure cowardry from people who do not have any sense of balance for including content and cant see a limit to how far things can go without taking the essense of Thesims away, and this kind of pessimism is purely just beign in the another extrem, and has the same potential of screwing up the series as people who want to turn Thesims in some GTA..wich is dumb.

There is not the need for any "Controversial" topic to sparks fight among people, they already do that for the most meaningless of the topics all the time, it would change nothing, if it was done right (And Maxis can do it right ) the community would eventually acept it as a whole as soon as they realise it is that the doomsday they belived, and they would still fight over the lesser of features..

I was not. I was explaining myself better since your comment expressed a distorted understanding of the subject i am asking for. Try not take emotion from what i write , even trough i have a hard position on the subject that is nothing personal against you.

Right ok, I have been living with my mother who has been suffering with Parkinsons ever since the birth of my younger brother (He's 19 now)...The Sims has helped me to cope with the stress & the sad times I had to go through..Heck i don't know what i'd be like without Sims...I keep telling myself..I could do so much more for the series, It just helped me escape from the day to day life but to have well lets say Parkinsons as an example into the Sims...Honestly that would be the end of the series for me...the whole situation with Parkinsons is extremely real..I just want to play the game & be happy...just..be happy & know that everything will be ok in the future.

Now..let me underline the issue between the term disabilities. There is as i said disabilities like Parkinsons which i 100% DO NOT WANT in the game & there are disabilities where people just carry on with life, I have so much respect for those people I really do.

But there are also learning disabilities or difficulties. I myself have Dyslexia...do i want a sim to be Dyslexic? Not really..I myself have huge troubbles reading out loud...Or just reading in general..& waiting for a sim to finish reading a book...that'll take forever.

But i do agree that people need to be represented & i know well for sure there are extremely talented Modders out there who can make moveable wheelchairs.

So in summery, I fully agree that there should be a representation for everyone! I extremely fully disgree of not having the dark side of life into a game that's meant to take you away from it all.

@Rachel During the history of the sims, there only every been one moveable wheelchair mode. It was during the Sims 2. But there's a catch you could only use it outside. All the other ones basically been dining chairs which can't move at all.
