The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection may have a few glitches. Below are some ideas that may help prevent and fix glitches in your game. If you do experience glitches in your game, please report them to EA Answers HQ http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-2/bd-p/the-sims-2 or Contact an EA Game Advisor at http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/.
Preventing Glitches
- Don't delete the mailbox or trashcan. If you do this, you will have to either move your Sims out of the house into a new one.
- Don't use the debug cheats if you don't know what you are doing. The debug cheats, if used incorrectly can cause neighborhood and game corruption. Research the cheats before you use them.
- Don't put ownable objects like beds and cars in inventories. Doing so may cause the ownable objects to become corrupt. If this happens just delete and replace the object.
- Fire NPC employees before closing down a home business. If you don't fire employees, you won't be able to add them to another home business.
- Don't delete dorms. Once NPC students get linked to a dorm room, they are not able to move to another dorm room.
Fixing Glitches
- Use the Repair feature. the repair feature is designed to repair game files in the Program Files folder. It does not repair files in the Documents folder. The repair feature can fix game corruption but not neighborhood corruption. To use this feature right click on the game's box art and select "Repair Game".
- Move objects Sims get stuck in. Use Buy mode, Build Mode, or the MoveObjects cheat to move objects Sims may get stuck in or around. Also, if Sims get stuck often, try deleting and replacing the object. If that does not work, remove the object from the game.
- Check your Mods and Custom Content. Make sure your mods and custom content are up-to-date. Also, make sure your mods are compatible with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. If you mods and custom content are up-to-date and compatible remove the mods and custom content according to the creator's directions to see if it fixes the glitches you are experiencing. Then add them back one by one to pinpoint what was causing the glitch.
- Use the MoveObjects cheat to delete objects Sims can't properly interact with. Sometimes interactions with objects fail and Sims can no longer interact with the objects. If this occurs just delete the object and replace.
- Remove The Sims 2 Ultimate Edition folder under my documents. The problem could be caused by corrupt data in that folder
If anyone wants to add anything, I will add it to the OP.
